TGIF
Ok, so yesterday got progressively better. I talked to my mom and sang happy birthday to her, the washing machine repairman came and fixed the washing machine. (That was a very interesting experience--he spoke no English and I speak no Czech, so we communicated with a lot of gestures.) And, I ended the day with a worship team meeting for Faith Community Church (planted by this World Harvest Team ) which was wonderful. There is a team visiting from their home church in Charlotte, including parts of their worship team. The night ended in an impromptu jam session! I wish I had brought my camera.

New link!
I have added a new link to my sidebar: Alton Brown is best known for his show, "Good Eats," on the Food Network. He has another show on TFN as well, Feasting on Asphalt. Luckily for me, he's blogging about his experiences as he goes!
Today is my mom's birthday. I'm sad I'm not able to celebrate with her this year. Last year, I fulfilled one of her ambitions/dreams for her birthday. She wanted to have box seats to some sort of theatrical performance, and I got us box seats for the Gem City Ballet's Spring performance, I guess. Box seats are not all that they're cracked up to be. We sat in the box seats on the right side of the Victoria Theatre, and parts of the ballet performances were cut off due to our seats. I prefer sitting in the middle of a row, be it on the floor or in the balcony, to box seats.
Anyway, I'm sort of down today, cause I miss my family. :(

Bummer
I stopped by the Albert at Karlovo namesti this evening to pick up some fixins for my meals this week. I even got 3 of the yummy blackcurrant yog(h)urt drinks, but I forgot to bring a bag to pack up all my stuff in. As the checkout ladies (or trolls) scare the crap out of me, I managed to not get an actual albert bag, but used a produce bag to pack my groceries. This was a bad decision--the bag with my 3 yog(h)urt drinks in it fell as I was stepping out of the tram at I P Pavlova, scattering 2 drinks under the actual tram. I'm sure they got squished as it rumbled by on it's way to namesti Miru. :(

TMNT
I'm surprised my eyeballs are still in their sockets. Sunny and I went to see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie tonight. Totally my choice, so Sunny has me to blame that we will never recover those two hours of our time.
Anywho, I didn't realize that the entire movie was CGI, but when I did I was afraid that it would be dubbed in Czech and that we had wasted the free movie passes. Fortunately for us, it was in English, but that was it's only saving grace. That and the fact that Sunny got a free TMNT poster.
The movie itself was very eyeroll inducing in the extreme. The only thing of note in the movie is that Master Splinter likes to watch his "stories," including Gilmore Girls! I can totally see him as a Luke/Loralei shipper. ;)

Glasgow, here I am!
I made it! I am in Glasgow, as we speak (or as I type and you read). I'm super excited to see the dancing this weekend, and to see my friends as well.
I've seen a few people here at my hostel who are also in town for the worlds. I talked to a woman and her daughters who were here from Illinois, I presume, because they were with the Trinity school. Her daughter's teams took 2nd in mixed ceili, I believe, and 2nd in coreography. Apparently, her son is competing as well. What a talented family!

Fun with Family
Skype is such a wonderful invention. I just spent 30 minutes talking with my two cousins, Heather and Anna, who are visiting with my parents back home. What makes it even more special is that we both have webcams, so it was a video call. This has made the distance between home and Prague bearable for me. It's been a long time since I've heard from my cousins--the last time I spoke with them was at Christmas, so it was very nice to hear from them (and see them!) today. The highlight of the conversation was when Heather described who she thought was my brother at church today:
"I thought I saw Zachary, but it was just an old man with his head shaved."
Hee! Apparently my brother recently shaved his head, although I'm not quite sure how she could mistake an old man for my 19 year old brother.
I love those girls.

Happy Birthday, Dot!
Thursday night, Sunny, Shanna, Laura and I went to a wonderful Italian restauarant ( Trattoria Cicala ) to celebrate Dorothy's birthday. We ate some wonderful authentic Italian food (I had tortellini filled with cheese in a spinach & cream sauce--excellent!) and just had a very fun evening. I heartily recommend this restaurant to any Praguers.
